Chuck Knigge and Freddie Mercury
We’re continuing our series of blog posts about the awesome people Side x Side gets to work with today. We’ve got another artist to talk about today … Chuck Knigge!
Last year, Chuck made a huge attention with his series of Queen front-man Freddie Mercury painted as famous queens. It hit the Internet big, and was an awesome hit at its gallery showings in Seattle and Tacoma (here’s the Huffington Post write-up). (To the right is Mercury as Queen Amidala.)
So it was very exciting for Side x Side to get to work with him.
His illustrations have cropped up in a variety of our work, including on a smoking elk stag for the Smoke + Cedar restaurant opening soon (a stencil of the illustration is painted on the wall as seen below, but expect it to show up elsewhere, too!).
In addition to painting, Chuck is also a UI designer and illustrator. He and his wife Halley had a very cool Armaweddin’ (an Armageddon-themed wedding, natch) with illustrations and engagement photos that you should definitely check out.
Glad we get to work with you, Chuck!
